How
to Buy a Gazing Ball
Gazing
balls are one of the easiest, fastest, and least expensive
ways to bring some color to your yard or garden. Gazing balls
enhance the atmosphere of your home, both inside and out!
You will enjoy the beauty they will bring to your home and
garden. When looking to purchase a gazing ball (also commonly
called a gazing globe), it is fun to look at the various colors
and materials available. Consider the style you are seeking
for your garden. You will also want to consider the climate
to which your ball will be exposed.
Gazing balls can create a focal point for your garden. When
placed next to a favorite flower bed, they will draw attention
to your treasured plants. Most gazing balls reflect light,
and the term “Gazing Ball” instinctively implies
that one’s natural desire is to gaze at the colored
ball, which has a wonderful calming effect in today’s
hectic world.
Probably the most common gazing ball is the glass
one. These beautiful balls come in a large variety of colors
and combinations of colors. They are very delicate, and if
knocked to the ground will shatter easily. If placed outside,
it is important to use a gazing ball stand that fits your
gazing ball properly, with a stem holder, so that the ball
is more secure. If a strong storm is coming and you have time,
it is advised to take the breakable decorations indoors.
Our
stainless
steel gazing balls, shown at right, are a more recent
addition to the gazing ball community. They are much more
durable than their glass brothers and sisters. Stainless steel
won’t break or rust (however, you can buy a stainless
steel ball in a “rust” finish for an antique look).
The rust balls look simply amazing nestled inside a nostalgic
tree stump.
There are many ways to display your gazing balls. Perhaps
the most common is to use a gazing
globe stand. These stands are usually created for
a specific size or type of gazing globe, so be sure to check
the stand’s details to be sure it will hold your ball.
Stainless Steel globes look wonderful floating in a pond,
and are resistant to any damage by water.
